Radaria vs NetSpot: an honest comparison
NetSpot is probably the most sensible budget choice in Wi-Fi surveying: heatmaps on Mac and Windows, a usable free tier, paid plans from about $149 (Pro) to $699 (Enterprise, up to 10 users). If what you need is a coverage heatmap on a floor plan without enterprise pricing, NetSpot earns its reputation — and Radaria doesn't do heatmaps yet. There, we said it.
What NetSpot doesn't do is everything above the radio. If your tickets say “the Wi-Fi is slow” while the heatmap says everything is green, the problem usually lives in DNS, TLS or the backend — layers a heatmap can't see. That's the gap Radaria was built for.
The differences that matter
1. What gets measured
NetSpot maps RF signal: strength, noise, channel distribution, drawn over your floor plan. Radaria fires a complete HTTP probe at every walking step and separates DNS resolve, TCP connect, TLS handshake and TTFB — so the output says “-65 dBm AND TLS takes 1.2 s right here”, not just “coverage is fine”. Different layers, different diagnoses.
2. Evidence
NetSpot's deliverable is a heatmap image and survey data. Radaria records synchronized video of the entire walk-through, scrubbed frame-by-frame against every sample in the cloud replay — proof-of-work for consultants, evidence for acceptance tests and disputes, anti-fraud against “surveys” done from the parking lot.
3. Verdict
NetSpot gives you data and visualizations to interpret. Radaria adds a deterministic A–F grade with per-metric recommendations and an AI explanation in five languages — a deliverable your customer's management understands without an engineer translating.
4. Platform and monitoring
NetSpot surveys run from a Mac or Windows laptop (plus mobile apps for basic inspection). Radaria runs entirely on Android 11+ — the phone in your pocket or a cheap dedicated unit in sentinel mode for continuous monitoring, which NetSpot doesn't offer at all.
5. Price
NetSpot: free tier, then $149–$699 one-time per license tier. Radaria: free during early access, all features, EU cloud included. Both are honest budgets — the difference is the job.
Comparison table
| NetSpot | Radaria | |
|---|---|---|
| Core job | RF heatmap on floor plan, budget surveys | Application-layer survey + monitoring |
| Measures | RSSI, noise, channels | RSSI + DNS / TCP / TLS / TTFB per sample |
| Floor-plan heatmap | Yes (its strength) | Roadmap |
| Video evidence | No | Yes, synchronized |
| Verdict + AI explanation | No | A–F + 5-language AI narrative |
| Platform | Mac / Windows (+ basic mobile) | Android 11+ |
| Continuous monitoring | No | Sentinel mode |
| Multi-tenant cloud (EU) | Partial | Yes, GDPR self-service |
| Price | Free tier; $149–$699 | Free (early access) |
When to choose which
NetSpot if you need a heatmap on a floor plan, today, on a budget — small offices, home labs, quick coverage checks from a laptop.
Radaria if the complaint is performance rather than coverage, if you need video-documented evidence, if you survey from Android (warehouses with Zebra terminals included), or if you want continuous monitoring without buying sensors.
They're cheap enough that many MSPs will simply carry both.
Radaria measures what your users actually feel — with synchronized video evidence. Get the Android app or open a free cloud account.
Frequently asked questions
Does Radaria do heatmaps like NetSpot?
Not yet — floor-plan heatmaps are on the roadmap. If the heatmap is your deliverable today, NetSpot is the right pick.
Does NetSpot measure latency or application performance?
NetSpot focuses on RF metrics and visualization. It doesn't separate DNS, TCP, TLS and TTFB per sample — that per-layer breakdown is Radaria's core feature.
Can I run Radaria on the phone I already have?
Yes — any Android 11+ device. No dongles, no measurement hardware.
